Motorcycle/service ineed advice on how to change the primary chain on a 1995 harley road glide.?

Get a manual, a primary chain ,a primary cover gasket and 2 qts. of primary oil.( also a tube of red loc-tite)

Remove the primary cover(after draining) ,remove the chain adjuster, Put the bike in 2nd gear and have a helper step on the brake, Using an air impact or a pretty good breaker bar remove the compensator sprocket nut all but a couple of turns.

Next loosen, and remove the clutch adjuster held in by snap ring, behind is the nut for the clutch basket(** REVERSE THREAD**),remove that nut in the same manner as front, unscrew the compensator nut and remove the compensator, clutch and chain as a unit.

Reassemble in reverse order using loc-tite on the compensator nut( 150lbs torque) and the clutch nut (100 lbs).

Install chain adjuster leaving about 5/8-3/4 of an inch free play at the top center of chain. Put your clutch adjuster plate back on and re-adjust..

New gasket and cover cross tighten to 8lbs.add oil replace derby and you should be good to go.Motorcycle/service ineed advice on how to change the primary chain on a 1995 harley road glide.?

The best advise that I can give you, is to go to this website. It is full of people who either work for, own or sleep at Harley dealerships and have been working on them for a long time. you can also check their individual past answers and view their bio to see what qualifications they possess:
